Employment Status – Internship Title – Graphic Design Intern

Located in Rock Island, IL, Rock Island Auction Company is looking for a qualified intern to join our Marketing/Graphics team. Our Graphics department is responsible for creating show-stopping works of art revolving around antique firearms and other military memorabilia and collectibles. The Graphic Design intern will be responsible for providing production and support to aid in the completion of detailed graphic products.


Summer/Fall 2020 with option to extend through Spring, 2021

Scheduling can be flexible based on intern’s class schedule and commitments, with a minimum of 16-20 hours per week required. Hours must be completed between 7a-5pm, Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the production of graphics products such as catalogs, advertisements, marketing pieces and digital/printed displays
  • Uses Adobe applications such as Photoshop and InDesign to drop backgrounds of photography, set up and design catalog pages, scan documentation, and other tasks associated with Graphics Design
  • Work closely with Graphics Design team members to support production and meet deadlines
  • Ensures creative designs adhere to company brand and voice
  • Reviews designs for errors and accuracy
  • Must be able to work well both independently and also in a team-oriented environment
  • Some weekend hours may be required approximately 5 times per year, depending on length of internship
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of one year’s coursework in Graphic Design program through accredited college required
  • Familiarity with Adobe applications such as Photoshop and InDesign
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities based on company and department needs
  • Strong attention to detail and positive attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Open to receiving feedback and show willingness to learn from mistakes
  • Team oriented with a positive outlook on shifting deadlines
  • Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Regular use hands and fingers and repetition of the same movements. Must be able to see, hear and speak clearly to answer phones. Occasional lifting of 10 lbs. Works with and around products associated with firearms.

    $13-14/hour, based on experience
