Our internships are project-based; therefore, the skills that we seek vary based on the needs of the projects during each term. All majors are welcome to apply, but please see education experience/requirements for specifics about what disciplines each internship project is seeking.
Internships are part-time (15 hours a week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours a week) during the summer.
In this role within the unit, interns will:
  • Support the Chicago Transit Authority’s 2020 One Summer Chicago high school internship program by leading virtual programming with youth participants; develop and implement curriculum to meet program goals; prepare lesson materials and activities, manage the classroom/participants and engagement, and evaluate and give feedback to students; create and provide a safe, thriving, and respectful virtual environment for all participants.

  • The CTA engages over 150 high school students in the summer internship program by providing professional development and exposure to careers in the transportation industry.



Job Requirements:
Educational Experience/Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education: Undergraduate Junior
Preferred Major(s): Education, preferred. Course work in education, psychology, sociology, social work with classroom experience encouraged to apply. Enrollment in a teaching credential/certificate/license program is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
The demands associated with the normal office environment
Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Classroom facilitation and teaching experience with high school age students required
Familiarity with remote or online “blended” learning environment with youth
Experience with video conferencing and online classroom platforms
Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with teams and students
Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills
Highly developed oral and written communication skills
Experience developing and implementing curriculum
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Strong project management skills



Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
